“Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
- To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
- To support the mission of the church worldwide,
- To work for justice and peace,
- To build an inclusive, caring community of women and
- To witness to the promise of God’s Kingdom.”
All women of Bethel are members of a Circle. The Circles meet the second Tuesday of the month in Memorial Hall or member’s homes. The afternoon Circle meets at 2:30 and the evening Circle meets at 7 PM. The PWCT (Presbyterian Women’s Coordinating Team) meets after worship on the Sunday two weeks prior to Session. Once a year we treat ourselves to a catered meal at Ladies Night Out.
In addition to monthly Bible study, the Circles help support the following: our missionaries, MBF, Presbytery and Synod Women, Least Coin, Birthday and Thank Offerings, Links of Love, Blanket Fund, Riverheads WRE, Riverheads Elementary School, Kingsway Help Center (a Blue Ridge Food Bank pantry), New Directions, Western State Hospital, Augusta Free Clinic, and Presbyterian Children’s Home of the Highlands.
Contact is kept with women who are shut-ins by cards and visits with goodie bags. Our women provide quarterly meals for the meetings of the Men of the Church. When the needs arise, we also hold receptions after funerals and help with the Homecoming and VBS meals.
